HELPFUL PREP AND INFORMATION
STYLE SUGGESTIONS
Your bridal look should feel like the most beautiful, confident version of you. It does also need to be thoughtfully chosen to last and perform throughout your entire day.
Heli weddings are truly magical, set against breathtaking outdoor landscapes and surrounded by the raw beauty of nature. With that comes exposure to the elements - wind, sun, and sometimes even a little drizzle or snow. Because of this, your chosen hairstyle plays an important role in how you look and feel, as well as how your photos turn out.
We always recommend choosing a style that complements both you and your dress, while also being practical for outdoor conditions. Timeless, secure styles tend to hold their shape beautifully and allow your natural features to shine without distraction. While soft, loose curls and face-framing pieces can look stunning initially, they can move easily in the wind and may shift across your face in photos and ruin a lot of images.
If you’ve always dreamed of wearing your hair down, we absolutely want to support that vision. We’ll work closely with you to create a version of your desired style that is as durable and camera-ready as possible, and guide you with positioning to get the most flattering results on the day.
For complete peace of mind, additional photo retouching is available if needed, ensuring your final images look polished and beautiful - just as you imagined! This does incur additional fees, so getting it right from the start will help avoid this.
Our goal is to help you strike the perfect balance between style, comfort, and longevity, so you can relax, enjoy every moment, and look incredible from start to finish.
UP DO
An updo is our number one recommendation for helicopter weddings. It is the most reliable choice for mountain conditions, allowing you to enjoy every moment without worrying about the wind affecting your hair.
For the best results, we recommend choosing a secure updo with minimal loose pieces around your face. While soft face-framing strands can look beautiful initially, they often become windswept throughout the day. Although we'll always do our best to position you out of the wind during your ceremony and photos or pin loose pieces back if needed. A secure style will stay looking polished from your first flight through to the final photographs.
Below are some of our favourite updo styles that have proven to last beautifully during helicopter weddings while still looking elegant, timeless, and effortless. Of course, these are simply recommendations, and you're welcome to choose any style that suits your personality and wedding vision.

HALF UP LONG
If you'd love to wear your hair down, we recommend choosing a half-up hairstyle. This offers the best balance of a soft, romantic look while providing extra security in mountain conditions.
A half-up style helps keep hair away from your face, reducing the effects of wind while still allowing you to enjoy the movement and beauty of wearing your hair down. We recommend keeping loose face-framing pieces to a minimum, as they can become tangled or windswept throughout the day. We'll always do our best to position you out of the wind during your ceremony and photographs, and we can pin back any loose strands if needed, but a more secure style will generally stay looking polished for much longer.
Below are some of our favourite half-up hairstyles that have worked beautifully for helicopter weddings. These styles are elegant, timeless, and designed to last while still giving you the look of wearing your hair down. Of course, these are simply recommendations, and you're welcome to choose any hairstyle that reflects your personal style and wedding vision.

PONY TAIL
A ponytail is another fantastic option for a helicopter wedding, offering a beautiful combination of elegance, comfort, and practicality. Whether you choose a sleek low ponytail, a textured pony, or a glamorous Hollywood-inspired style, ponytails tend to hold up exceptionally well in mountain conditions.
Because the hair is secured, you'll spend less time worrying about the wind and more time enjoying your adventure. We recommend keeping loose face-framing pieces to a minimum, as they can easily become windswept during helicopter flights and on exposed mountain tops. A more secure finish will keep your hairstyle looking polished throughout the day.
Ponytails also have the advantage of maintaining beautiful movement in photographs while keeping your hair away from your face. They're a wonderful choice if you love the idea of wearing your hair down but would like something that is more durable in alpine conditions.

LONG HAIR DOWN
If wearing your hair completely down has always been part of your wedding vision, we absolutely want you to feel like yourself on your special day. However, we do like to set realistic expectations for helicopter weddings, as alpine conditions can be unpredictable and often much windier than couples expect.
Hair worn fully down is the style most affected by wind. Even on calm days, helicopter flights and mountain breezes can cause hair to become tangled, cover your face, or lose its shape throughout the day. While we'll always do our best to position you out of the wind during your ceremony and photographs, and help tidy your hair between locations, it is unlikely to stay looking exactly as it did when you first left your hair and makeup appointment.
If you choose to wear your hair down, we recommend adding soft waves or texture with enough styling product to help it hold its shape, rather than wearing it completely straight. We also suggest bringing a small hairbrush or comb, along with a few matching bobby pins, so we can quickly refresh your hairstyle if needed.
Every bride has a different vision, and we're happy to work with whichever style makes you feel the most beautiful. We simply want you to be aware of how mountain conditions may affect your hairstyle so there are no surprises on the day.

SHORT HAIR
Short hair can look absolutely stunning for a helicopter wedding and often performs better in mountain conditions than longer styles. Whether you have a chic bob, textured crop, pixie cut, or shoulder-length style, there are plenty of beautiful options that will photograph wonderfully.
We recommend discussing the weather and helicopter environment with your hairstylist so they can create a style with enough texture and hold to last throughout the day. If your style includes longer front sections or a fringe, consider having these lightly secured or styled to minimise movement in the wind while still maintaining a soft, natural look.
For those with shoulder-length hair, you may also like to consider a half-up style or adding decorative accessories such as pins, combs, or a veil to provide extra security while complementing your overall look.
Most importantly, choose a hairstyle that makes you feel confident and comfortable. We'll always do our best to position you out of the wind during your ceremony and photographs, helping your hair look its best while embracing the natural beauty and adventure of your helicopter wedding.

PRE-WEDDING SKIN PREPARATION AND TREATMENTS
Healthy, radiant skin is the foundation of beautiful, long-lasting makeup. The more balanced and nourished your skin is, the more seamlessly your makeup will apply—and the more luminous it will look both in person and in photos.
We recommend beginning your skin preparation at least 3–6 months before your wedding day. This allows time to establish a consistent routine and, if needed, incorporate professional treatments such as facials to improve hydration, texture, and overall skin health. Consistency is key—last-minute efforts simply won’t deliver the same results as a well-maintained routine.
A simple, effective skincare regimen includes four essential steps:
-
Cleanse – to remove makeup, oil, and impurities
-
Prep – using a toner to balance and refine the skin
-
Treat – applying a serum to target specific concerns
-
Protect – locking in moisture with a good-quality moisturiser
Following this routine both morning and night will give you the best possible results over time. Well-cared-for skin not only looks healthier but also helps your makeup sit more smoothly and last longer throughout the day.
In the final week leading up to your wedding, it’s important to keep things calm and simple. Avoid introducing any new products or treatments that could cause irritation. Focus on hydration—both externally with your skincare and internally by drinking plenty of water and supporting your skin with good nutrition.
On the day of your makeup trial and your wedding day, arrive with clean, fresh skin. Cleanse and tone as usual, and apply a light moisturiser to keep your skin hydrated. We recommend skipping serums on the day, as some formulas can interfere with makeup application and cause pilling.
A few additional tips to keep in mind:
-
Avoid sunburn at all costs, as it can dry and damage the skin and affect how makeup sits
-
Stay consistent with your routine rather than overdoing it close to the day
-
Hydrated skin is happy skin—both inside and out
Taking the time to properly care for your skin in the months leading up to your wedding truly makes all the difference. When your skin is healthy and glowing, your entire bridal look is elevated, effortless, fresh, and beautifully polished.

-
Shampoo your hair three times to remove any product build-up.
-
Apply only a small amount of conditioner to the mid-lengths and ends.
-
Avoid conditioner on the roots.
Dry Your Hair Completely
-
Blow-dry your hair fully using a brush to smooth it out.
-
Please do not air dry your hair.
Keep Hair Natural
-
Avoid using straighteners or curling irons
-
Leave hair natural texture after blow-drying.
Avoid Hair Dents
-
No top knots, tight buns, or tight braids overnight.
-
If needed, place your hair in a low, loose ponytail.
-
Heavy products or oils
-
Sleeping with wet hair
Set Your Parting
-
Please ensure your hair part is exactly how you would like it styled on the wedding day.
Using straighteners before styling can make it harder for curls, volume, and texture to hold throughout the day.
If you feel you need to straighten your hair beforehand due to frizz or natural texture, please let me know in advance.
ON WEDDING MORNING
If you prefer to wash your hair the morning of the wedding, that’s completely fine — just make sure:
-
Your hair is fully dry before your appointment

Your hair is smooth and ready for styling
-
Your parting is already in place

For clients booked for a blow-dry:
-
Please wash your hair immediately before your appointment

EXTRA STYLING TIPS FOR THE BEST RESULTS
Wear Comfortable Clothing
If possible, wear a button-up shirt, robe, or zip-up top so you don’t need to pull clothing over your hairstyle once finished.
Extensions & Hair Accessories
If you are wearing clip-in extensions, veils, pins, or special accessories, please have them ready and easily accessible on the morning.
If your extensions are new, it’s helpful to have worn them once beforehand so they sit comfortably and blend naturally. Extra costs apply to put extensions in as this takes longer. Please send us a picture of the type of extensions so your stylist can confirm they will work with your style and if the extra cost is needed.
Fresh Colour Appointments
If you’re planning to colour your hair before the wedding, try to schedule it 1–2 weeks beforehand for the most natural finish.
Oily Hair Tips
Hair that is freshly over-conditioned or oily can sometimes struggle to hold curls and volume. Keeping products minimal helps create the best long-lasting result.
Bridal Party Timing
Please encourage everyone in the bridal party to be ready at their scheduled time with dry hair and clean faces if makeup is also booked. This helps the morning stay relaxed and stress-free for everyone.
Stay Hydrated & Eat Breakfast
Wedding mornings can be busy and emotional. Make sure to drink water and eat something nourishing before getting ready so you feel your best throughout the day.
Spray Tan Tips
Everyone loves a little extra glow on their wedding day, but spray tans photograph best when planned properly.
-
Consider the colour of your partner skin and make sure the shade you choose isn't to different as this can look strange in photographs
-
Book a trial spray tan beforehand so you feel confident with the colour and finish.
-
Follow all preparation and aftercare instructions provided by your spray tan artist.
-
Schedule your spray tan approximately 2–3 days before the wedding so the colour has time to settle naturally.
Lash Extension Recommendations
-
If you regularly wear lash extensions and plan to maintain them after the wedding, they are absolutely fine to keep.
-
Book your final lash fill approximately one week before the wedding day.
-
Avoid trying lash extensions for the very first time right before the wedding in case of irritation or an allergic reaction to the adhesive.
-
If possible, have your lash extensions done before your makeup trial so you can see the full wedding makeup look together.
If you prefer not to commit to lash extensions, temporary strip lashes can create a very similar soft and glamorous effect.
Eyebrow Maintenance
Well-groomed brows make a big difference in professional makeup application and wedding photos.
-
Whether you wax, thread, tint, or tweeze your brows, it’s best to maintain them for both your trial and wedding day.
-
Schedule eyebrow appointments approximately 1 to 1.5 weeks before the wedding to allow any redness or sensitivity to settle.
TO DO:
Please e-mail a photo of yourself(selfie) for complexion, hair type and all of your hair & make-up preferences images one month in advance.
Your stylist will receive these in advance and provide any feedback needed. They will work with you on the day to create your perfect look.
We recommend having your hair up incase of wind on the day. If you’d like hair down, our photographers will do their best to face you the right way but the wind can ruin the style.
Please consider styles without free curls / hair around your face as this will get blown and can ruin your photos. Consider a style that will last all day in the outdoor conditions.
