The Pure Salt vessel, M.V. Flightless, is a purpose-built 27 m expedition yacht designed for luxury, comfort, and adventure in the most remote wilderness areas of New Zealand. Originally an ex-Navy vessel, she has been transformed into a spacious and well-equipped floating home, perfect for exploring the coastal fiords of Fiordland National Park, Stewart Island, and beyond.

The vessel is internationally surveyed and crafted to provide a comfortable and immersive live-aboard experience with no fixed itineraries — meaning your journey unfolds naturally, at your pace and around your interests. Whether you’re seeking adventure, exploration, or pure relaxation, Flightless offers an intimate, bespoke way to connect with New Zealand’s wildest landscapes.

Cabin Information

M.V. Flightless accommodates up to 12 guests in cosy, well-appointed cabins, each designed to feel like a home away from home.

4 Double/Twin Cabins – Queen bed with a single bed above, ensuite bathroom with a great shower, USB charging, central heating, ventilation, and thoughtful comforts.
1 Quad Cabin – Four single bunk beds with its own ensuite bathroom, ideal for family or friends travelling together.
Each cabin includes ensuite facilities, quality linen and towels, heating, ventilation for fresh air, and USB charging, ensuring comfort after a day of discovery.

We require a minimum three-night stay and that’s very intentional. This isn’t just about a single day or a quick ceremony. It’s about giving you the space to truly arrive, unwind, and be fully present in one of the most meaningful experiences of your life. From the moment you land, everything begins to slow down. The landscapes open up around you, the air feels different, and the noise of everyday life fades into the background. Over these days, you’re not rushing from moment to moment—you’re settling into your wedding story, allowing it to unfold naturally and beautifully.

This time gives you the freedom to embrace both connection and adventure. Your wedding day spent soaring above alpine peaks, landing somewhere wild and untouched for an intimate ceremony. another exploring hidden valleys, lakes, and glacier-carved landscapes, capturing moments that feel effortless and real.
